From humble beginnings as Westgate Shield School in 2008 to our current position as a premier educational group, we have consistently delivered exceptional academic results while nurturing character and holistic development.
Our journey began in Gitaru, where founders Mrs. Josephine Gathii and Mr. Peter Gathii established a strong foundation for academic excellence. As we grew, we moved to Muguga, Kiambaa, expanding our facilities and impact.
In 2018, we transformed from a boarding school to our current location in Kinoo Muthinga, where we continue our tradition of outstanding KCPE performance while embracing innovative teaching methods and maintaining our commitment to Christian values and Kenyan heritage.

Mrs. Josephine Gathii
Founder, Director & Educational Psychologist
With 15 years of dedicated service at Kidfarmaco Primary School, Josephine's passion for education began long before Westgate. Her journey as an educator continued even as she pursued higher education at Kilimambogo Teachers College and later the University of Nairobi, where she earned her degree and later a Master's in Psychology.
Her reputation as an exceptional teacher fueled Westgate's rapid growth from its humble beginnings in Gitaru. Beyond her teaching prowess, Josephine serves as a church leader and treasurer at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kikuyu, embodying the Christian values that form our school's foundation.
Professional Impact
Currently offering psychological services at Kenyatta National Hospital, Josephine brings valuable expertise to our school community, providing counseling support to students, staff, and parents. Her dream is to expand Westgate's reach through multiple branches, creating a lasting educational legacy.
Mr. Peter Gathii Reuben
Co-Founder, Strategic Director & Project Manager
A certified Animal Health professional with a Diploma in Meat Technology, Peter brought his strategic mind and project management skills to Westgate from the very beginning. He was instrumental in identifying the school's initial location in Gitaru, handling marketing efforts, and overseeing construction—laying the physical foundation for our success.
His community leadership was demonstrated through his role as Chairman during the construction of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. This same dedication to community development now fuels Westgate's growth, from the expansion to Muguga to our current location in Kinoo Muthinga.
Current Leadership Role
Appointed to the KLDC Board of Directors by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development in April 2023.
